Wine information

A cuvée of 70 % Corvina, 20 % Corvinone and 10 % Rondinella and Molinara. The vineyards are located in the Classico zone at an altitude of 200 meters. They face east and the vines are rooted in a soil of clay and limestone with a high stone content. The grapes for this Amarone della Valpolicella are dried from harvest until February of the following year, losing around 40 % of their liquid. The wine is then fermented in stainless steel and aged for 36 months in 3000-litre barrels and aged in bottle for a further eight months.

Nose

The 2013 Amarone Classico is a decidedly charming and elegant representative of its genre. At the same time, it is well built and one can sense the power under the rich, ripe and partly candied red and dark fruit. Plums, black cherries, dried sour cherries and some sloe can be found as well as light tobacco, a bit of semi-bitter, slightly warmed chocolate, plus a bit of vanilla, cinnamon and underbrush. All this is finely interwoven and makes great desire for the first sip.

Mouth

The great power that the Amarone due to its concentration, is first embedded on the palate in a bed of silky tannin and an aroma and texture that reminds a little of Danube waves. Juicy cherries are there, cool chocolate with a buttery and creamy mix along with a fluffy pastry. Then there are subtle bitter notes of cherries and cherry pits, a little pepper and some nutty components as well. If one drinks the AmaroneThe warmth and intensity of the wine spreads pleasantly on the palate. But before that, the wine, which seems quite dry, remains fresh and clear with the typical acid arc that characterizes the wines of Ca' La Bionda.
