Info about the wine
Merlot and Cabernet Franc are planted a few kilometres from the sea in Riparbella according to biodynamic principles.
Info about the expansion
The fermentation of the cuvee of equal parts of 50 percent takes place in cement tanks followed by a maturation for eight to ten months in French oak. The Altrovino has not been fined or filtered.
Color
Deep dark cherry red, black at the core with minimal lightening towards the rim.
Nose
The 2016 Altrovino is an extremely compact wine, which presents itself freshly opened still somewhat closed. With sufficient oxygen contact, dark blackberries, wild raspberries and blueberries appear. An abundance of vegetal notes such as green pepper, rosemary, thyme and juniper give this monumental wine a great freshness. Subtle notes of peat, tobacco and graphite are hinted at and will become more apparent with further maturation.
Palate
On the palate, it convinces with an exciting interplay of coolness and finesse and with dense, sweetish fruit. The use of wood is extremely skilful, its tannin complex, its acidity extremely refreshing. If you want to taste it now, you should decant it, even one or two days of opening in the fridge will make it win. Intense dishes with concentrated sauces appreciate the accompaniment of this monument of wine.
