Wine information
The Premier Cru site Les Valozières is located between the Grand Cru sites Corton Bressandes and Corton Paulands. The 0.28 hectares were planted in 1987. The topsoil is characterized by clay, in the subsoil there is a lot of limestone with gravel inclusions.
Color
cherry red with purple border
Nose
The 2017 Aloxe-Corton initially shows a slight yeasty hint, but this fades away within a few minutes. At first, lavender flowers take over before the wine becomes a bit more red-fruited. Red currants and their stalks are in play, as well as barberry, cherries and a little earth and undergrowth.
Mouth
The palate of the 2017 Aloxe-Corton is characterized by an underlying power and a purity in the melange of red and dark fruit. With air, warm notes creep in, the Aloxe-Corton becomes fuller and shows more muscle. The tannin still seems quite robust and pithy and still needs time to integrate. But that's not surprising for such a young wine from the Corton hill. With time, this will become a classic Aloxe Corton with depth and a rather masculine power.
