Wine information
The Champagne is a 100 %iger Pinot Noir from Aÿ in the Grand Vallée de la Marne. These are grapes from the Lieut-dit La Fosse with a south-southeast exposure with clayey topsoil and chalky bedrock. The ageing takes place in 400-litre tonneaux. Fermentation is spontaneous. No malolactic fermentation is undertaken. The dosage should be in the lower Brood-area or with Extra Brood lie.
Color
Very pale straw yellow with fine perlage
Nose
The 2016 Ageius is a wonderfully fragrant wine with a lot of bread crust, some grated hazelnut and a whole host of citrus notes between kumquat, lemon and grapefruit. There are also herbs, some juniper and red berries. The effect is highly elegant, generous and yet taut.
Palate
It then becomes excellent on the palate, where the grand cru does absolute justice to its origins. The Ageius 2016 appears extremely precise despite its quite creamy, almost full-bodied and incredibly concentrated and intense nature for the vintage. It always remains clear and fresh with good pressure on the palate until the expansive, rich and at the same time reminiscent of salt butter and caramel finish. Compared to the rather taut 2015 vintage, 2016 is more hedonistic. It is simply a question of style which of these two excellent wines to choose. grand cru one prefers.
