Info about the wine
The grapes come from the Grand Cru vineyard site Achkarrer Schlossberg and the Castellberg site. Grown on tephrite, black earth and loess.
Information on the expansion
18 months ageing in French oak
Color
Muted garnet red with delicate violet reflections and subtle lightening towards the rim
Nose
Beguiling fruit aromas of cherries, berries and plums underpinned by forest leaves, tree bark, truffle, some juniper and pepper. The delicately smoky structure gives it finesse and the herbal aromas of tarragon and rosemary contribute a beautiful freshness.
Palate
On the palate, the 2019 Achkarrer Spätburgunder VDP. Ortswein appears juicy, finesse-rich and invigorating. The fine, charming fruit combines with a resilient acidity, a fine-grained tannin structure and a mineral aftertaste that leads very seductively to the fine cuisine that accompanies it.
