Hello ,

Today we meet a Bordelaiser in the Toro. Jean-Francois Hébrard belongs to an unusual species as a native Frenchman in central Spain. The oenologist of «Quinta de la Quietud» previously worked in Bordeaux, among others with the world-famous Château Haut-Brion and Cheval Blanc. He learned his knowledge of red wine production and the skilful use of oak barrels from the best winemakers in Bordeaux.

In Toro, Spain, the «Quinta de la Quietud» with the combination of ancient vines, hot dry climate and poor calcareous soils.

The soul mate of the Tinta de Toro (that's how Tempranillo is called in the region) with the grape varieties of Hébrard's home in Bordelais is unmistakable. His aim is to rein in the power of Tinta de Toro in this warm environment. From the beginning, he has strived to produce elegant, cool wines full of elegance and finesse. One of the first measures was to convert to organic viticulture in order to have a positive effect on the balance in the vineyard. The Biodynamics followed and resounds through to the Riserva - as a harmonising force.

The great silence

The Quinta de la Quietud is located in Toro, just two kilometres south of the left bank of the Duero. The vines of the Quinta grow at an altitude between 665 and 700 metres. On 22 hectares, the quinta cultivates almost only one grape variety - Tinta de Toro. In Smallest edition a sweet wine made from Malvasia is also produced. The wine is matured in small French and American oak barrels with long maceration periods.

La Mula - The cult wine

The Top wine La Mula already has cult status in the wine world.

It is bursting with energy and power. Luscious fruit meets a perfectly balanced polished tannin and silky mouthfeel.

The balance of these concentrated wines is remarkable. Few other oenologists (such as Luca d'Attomo of Duemani) have mastered the fine work of merging these concise attributes into a unity.

The Jean-Marc Bouley winery is certainly one of the most interesting wineries on the Côte de Beaune. For a long time, it was one of the most respected but not really celebrated wineries in Volnay. Jean-Marc Bouley had brought it up to a good level, but remained there to a certain extent until his son Thomas joined in 2002. He had studied in Beaune and then had a ...

Muthenthaler - Hike in the Wachau Valley

Baroque furniture, heavy curtains, a gramophone playing classical music. This or similar is the stereotypical evening with the Viennese aristocracy. You stand on the balcony, smoke a cigarette and look out over the Danube. Suddenly the record scratches, everyone turns their heads towards the room, puzzled. And there they catch sight of a group of people in a kind of trance to obscure underground ...
